On November 24, Governor Tate Reeves announced additional counties that have qualified and met certain requirements to be placed under mask mandates with his “Safe Recovery” executive order that is in effect until December 11 with Choctaw County making the list. “Wearing a mask helps," Reeves said at a briefing with press. As of November 30, Choctaw County had 350 cases with 7 deaths since March 2020. The state Health Department said that Mississippi, with a population of about 3 million, has reported more than 153,270 confirmed coronavirus cases and at least 3,807 deaths from COVID-19 as of Monday evening. The other additional counties are: Alcorn, Attala, Bolivar, Chickasaw, , Jefferson Davis, Jones, Lafayette, Lawrence, Lincoln, Lowndes, Neshoba, Panola, Perry, Prentiss, Stone, Tippah, Tishomingo, and Union. As of now 41 of Mississippi’s 82 counties are included within this order.
