During their regular meeting, on Tuesday, June 16, the Louisville Board of Aldermen adopted resolutions honoring retirees, Louisville Fire Chief, Johnnie Roy Haynes, and Louisville Police Captain, Gerald Hayes. Haynes began his 40-year career with the City of Louisville as a mechanic at the Street Department, before moving to Louisville Fire Dept. where he served in many different positions eventually being named Fire Chief. Hayes began his career with Louisville Police Dept. in 1987, as a patrolman. He was instrumental in establishing the D.A.R.E. program in Winston County’s schools, he served as an investigator for a number of years, and in the rank of Captain. Mayor Will Hill and all of the Aldermen thanked them for their years of service and dedication. (Full articles in today’s edition) Concerning the Airport Project there were several action items on the agenda which received unanimous approval, including: • Authorize payment to Baker’s Ready Mix for $5,500.00 for 2020 AIP Supplemental Projectland acquisition for runway restoration. • Authorize payment to Baker’s Ready Mix for 1,000.00 for 2020 MDOT Hangar F Renovation project. • Authorize payment to Big Ass Fans for $3,597.44 for the 2020 MDOT Hangar F Renovation project. • Authorize payment to Triplett Electric for $4,713.00 for the 2020 MDOT Hangar F Renovation project. • Authorize payment to Gulf Atlantic for floor resurfacing for $18,861.61 for the 2020 MDOT Hangar F Renovation project. In other action, the Board voted unanimously to: • Accept Bids for Supplies for 2020-2021. • Adopt Final Resolution for a five year tax exemption from Polo Custom Products for a true value of property $128,905.09, (approximately $560.00). • Approve the Police Chief’s request to promote Glenda Sherrod to the rank of Patrolman First Class. • Acknowledge EMEPA donation of $72.00 for Fire Department use. • To reappoint Carmen White to the Tourism Board. • To reappoint Giles Ward to the Zoning Board.
