About 40 high school career coaches employed by Three Rivers Planning and Development District through AccelerateMS grant funds toured East Mississippi Community College’s Golden Triangle campus and The Communiversity Nov. 3.
Information was provided about EMCC’s admission process and available programs of study.
Earlier this year, the Mississippi Legislature approved nearly $8 million in funds for AccelerateMS to expand the state’s career coach program from 20 to 120 career counselors to connect students with, and prepare them for, careers in high-demand fields.
Career coaches at high schools in EMCC’s six-county district attended the tour and information session, as did some at high schools in surrounding counties, such as Choctaw, Monroe, Webster, and Winston, to name a few.
