Funeral services for Mae Anna Smith, 69, were held Saturday, January 15 at Bethsalem MB Church cemetery in Ackerman. Pastor Joe Shumaker officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Smith died January 8. Survivors include her husband, Willie B. Smith; her children, Catina Douglas, Willie Smith, Jr., and Silverine Smith; 8 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Jessie Lee Curry
Funeral services for Jessie Lee Curry, 74, were held at 11 a.m., January 12 at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville. Minister Annie Thomas officiated. Burial followed in the Mt. Vernon cemetery.
Jessie died December 29 at the Oktibbeha County Hospital.
Survivors include 3 daughters, Emily Curry, Tanya Curry and Labridgette Curry; 1 brother, Herman Curry; 1 sister, Sadie Nelson; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Gladys “Suedey” Whitfield
Funeral services for Gladys “Suedey” Whitfield, 74, were held at 2 p.m., January 16 at Beck Funeral Home in Louisville. Dr. Benjamin Pittman officiated. Burial followed in the Louisville Memorial Cemetery.
Mrs. Whitfield died January 6 at the Forrest General Hospital in Hattiesburg.
Survivors include one daughter, Angela Whitfield; 4 sons, Don Whitfield, Dan Whitfield, Kevin Whitfield, and Jiman Whitfield; one sister, Hattie Bell Moore; 3 brothers, Rickey Baker, Tony Baker, and Redding Baker, II; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Carter died on January 9 at her home.

Dennis Gladney

Mr. Gladney died January 19 at the Winston County Medical Center.
Survivors include his mother, Ina Lee Gladney; 6 sisters, Mamie Gladney, Debra Shell, Mary Gladney, Sherry Woods, Teretha Flowers, and Lynn Gladney; 1 son, Dennis Gladney, Jr.; one brother, Barron Ray Gladney; 2 grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Shirley Groceman

Services for Shirley Groceman, 79, of Ackerman will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 22, 2022, at Coleman Funeral Home in Ackerman with the Rev. Jerry Lawson officiating. Visitation will be Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Enon Cemetery in Ackerman.
She was born July 26, 1942, in Choctaw County to the late Martin Thomas Jr. and Frankie Viola Stephens Jones. Mrs. Groceman was a retired business owner. She died Jan. 14, 2022, at Choctaw Regional Medical Center in Ackerman.
Survivors include four daughters, Janet Dale Roark of Hendersonville, Tenn., Debbie Clark of Caledonia, Paula Billinger of Garden City, Mo., and Debbie Ann Groceman of Independence, Mo.; three sons, Lance Groceman of Ackerman, Ryan Groceman of Chesterton, Ind., and Ray Groceman of Eupora; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or the American Heart Association.
