The Noxapater Tigers got in two games last week against a scrappy Central Holmes Academy squad.
The Tigers took both games, winning 13-9 on Monday and 15-14 on Thursday.
Noxapater games with Velma Jackson were rained out and will be rescheduled.
Noxapater stayed unbeaten at 7-0 and was scheduled to play in the Sebastopol tournament during spring break. They were scheduled to play Sebastopol on Monday and Puckett on Tuesday. After spring break, they will play at Winona on Monday, March 18 before taking on French Camp in a key two-game series. Game 1 of the series will be Tuesday, March 19 at French Camp while game 2 will be Friday, March 22 at Noxapater.
Noxapater 13, Central Holmes 9
The Tigers overcame an early deficit and took four-run win over the Trojans on Monday.
Noxapater scored three in the first and two in the third while Central Holmes scored one in the first, five in the second and three in the third to take a 9-5 lead. But Noxapater then scored one in the fifth, four in the sixth and three in the seventh.
The Tigers had seven hits and took advantage of 15 errors by Central Holmes. Luke Reynolds was 2-for-5 and scored three runs while Braxton Daughtery was 2-for-5 and scored two runs. Kaden Carter singled and scored two runs while Zach Lloyd singled and drove in two runs.
Brady Ellinson started on the mound and pitched 2 2/3 innings, giving up nine runs with only four of those being earned. He gave up two hits and seven walks while striking out five. Lloyd pitched 4 1/3 inning in relief to pick up the win, giving up one hit and two walks while striking out three.
Noxapater 15, Central Holmes 14
The Tigers scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the seventh to take a walk-off win against the Trojans on Thursday.
Central Holmes opened up with five runs in the first inning, but Noxapater answered with eight runs. The Trojans then scored two in the second and one in the third to tie the game at 8-8. Noxapater then scored two in the third and fourth to take a 12-8 lead. Central Holmes then scored three in the fifth and seventh innings and led 14-13 going to the seventh. The Tigers then scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh to take the walkoff win.
Noxapater outhit Central Holmes 11-5 and overcame nine errors and 11 walks. Luke Reynolds was 3-for-4 with four runs scored and two RBIs. Braxton Daughtery was 2-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and four RBIs while Bryton Yates was 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Kaden Karter also singled and had four RBIs while Luke Sunburn, Brady Ellison and Corbin Stapleton each scored two runs apiece for the Tigers.
Yates started on the mound and only got one out, giving up five unearned runs on one hit and three walks. Reynolds pitched 3 2/3 innings and gave up five runs on three hits and six walks while striking out six. Daughtery pitched the last three innings to pick up the win, giving up one run on two walks while striking out three.
