The Louisville Wildcats were back in action last week on the court as the opening part of the basketball schedule is coming to a close.
The boys squad had two ball games starting with a home contest against McAdams in which LHS was able to garner its first win since the last time the two teams met on November 30. It was a 57-53 victory to get the Wildcats to a three wins on the year.
LHS traveled to Class 5A Columbus in the second game of the week and had trouble duplicating the same result. The Falcons came out hot with a 22-7 lead in the first quarter and never looked back on the way to a 90-54 blowout win.
Coach Kylan Tippett didn’t respond to a request for the high scorers from that game. The Wildcats are now 3-9 on the year.
The Lady Wildcats struggled against the Lady Falcons as well. After trailing 27-17 at the half, things escalated in the third when Columbus took a 51-23 lead. That would be enough to take home a 62-42 victory.
Coach Mitchell McCurry still hasn’t updated his team’s progress with the Winston County Journal this year and didn’t provide any information again this week including a score in the McAdams game.
This week the two teams were slated to play the final games before Christmas break when they battled Choctaw County in Ackerman on Monday. Those games took place after press time.
