The Mayor and Board of Aldermen for the Town of Mathiston has set a December 6, 2022,
special election to fill the vacancy of Alderman created by the passing of Alderman James “Jim” McMinn.
Candidates have until November 16, 2022,
at 4:00p.m. to qualify in the City Clerk’s office.
Qualifications:
Never been convicted of bribery, perjury or other infamous crime, being defined as a crime
punishable by confinement in the penitentiary.
Never been convicted of a felony in federal court after December 8, 1992, nor of a crime in the court of another state which is a felony in this state, after December 8, 1992, as provided in Section 44 of the Mississippi Constitution.
Must meet all constitutional, statutory, and other legal requirements to hold said office.
Must be a resident of the Municipality for two (2) years immediately preceding the day
of election.
