A hearse stolen in Kosciusko was recovered in Weir Wednesday evening after a police pursuit.
Matthew Thomas was arrested and charged with felony taking of a motor vehicle, felony fleeing, and driving without a driver's license.
The Kosciusko Police Department received a call about the stolen hearse at 7 p.m. The vehicle was last seen heading west on Highway 12. Kosciusko Police and Attala County Sheriff's deputies pursued the hearse. The Choctaw County Sheriff's Office and Weir Police Department were called to assist.
Weir Police Chief Dillion Cates deployed a spike strip at the intersection of Highway 12 and Highway 413. As a result of the spikes, the suspect lost control of the hearse and wrecked in front of the Weir Dollar General.
Thomas remains in the Leake County Regional Correctional Facility on a $10,000 bond.
