With Thanksgiving done, Winston County is now in full swing for Christmas. Across the county, you’ll see festive decorations, and, it’s possible to hear carolers too! Locals won’t need to travel to get into the Christmas spirit!
Louisville
Louisville will host its annual Christmas parade, titled “Parade of Lights,” on December 4 at 6:00 PM. The parade route will chiefly travel Main Street, and interested parties may register to participate at the Louisville Chamber of Commerce office.
Of course, this is just one of many events in Louisville this holiday season. On December 2, the Dome will be bustling with the Jingle Bell Market. The event begins at 9:00 AM and lasts until 4 PM. Patrons can expect festive booths and jolly vendors for unique gift ideas. Plus, there will be local chefs on tap to provide tasty treats while you shop. Bring the kids to see Santa, who will be posted at the event. Rumor has it that the Grinch may also try to get in on the fun.
A Kids’ Korner will also be available for children to participate in craft-making.
On December 14th and December 21st, shop locally at the After Dark Shopping event. Downtown shops will be open late for these events, and attendees will enjoy front door parking, the opportunity to get those last-minute gifts and complimentary gift wrapping.
Noxapater

On Sunday, December 3, the Noxapater Community Chamber Alliance will host a Tour of Homes from 2 PM to 4 PM, with Robert and Gwen Clark, Paul and Lynn Crow, and Riley and Jenna Jones opening their homes for the event. Tickets to the Christmas Tour of Homes are $10 each, and they may be purchased at the door on the day of the event. Alternatively, they may also be purchased at a local business in Noxapater.
On December 7, a Community Christmas Caroling event will take place in the alley between the Citizens Bank and the 4th Quarter restaurant. Everyone may participate in singing, but church choirs and local musicians will also be featured. For the kids, there will be a marshmallow roasting and craft activities.
On Thanksgiving night, the J.W. Young Park came alive with Christmas lights in the town’s annual “Make it Glow” event. There are numerous photo opportunities as visitors walk through the lighted tour. However, visitors are cautioned against straying off the paved path, and they are encouraged not to sit on any of the display items due to safety concerns. NCCA Director Chasity Wells noted that the handpainted items utilized for photos are the work of Betsy Carson Hatcher as well as Noxapater High School students under the direction of Pam Mills and Kimberly Ingram. Wells also noted that the lights were donated last year by both local businesses and by local townspeople.
Locals will have so many opportunities to enjoy the holidays right here at home. There’s no need to travel two or more hours to experience family fun or find that perfect Christmas gift; there’s fun for the entire family all month long!
