NOXAPATER NEWS: Revival services will begin at the Methodist Church the coming week, the Pastor, Rev. J. A. Goad, will be assisted in the services by W. M. McIntosh of Iuka, with his singer, Mr. Cooper, are both well known here and experts in their line, and our people are looking forward to a great time. Everybody is cordially invited to attend these services. - Mrs. Will Chambliss and Mrs. Coley Chambliss of Louisville were guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. N. Young Tuesday. - A number of the members of the Local Chapter of the O. E. S. attended a picnic at Burnside Wednesday, when the members from several chapters met there and enjoyed a splendid day. - Master Ralph Weaver of Morton, enroute to Ackerman, spent Saturday night in our town. - We are sorry to note that Mrs. Gunn, who is at the Jackson Sanitorium, is suffering with her broken limb, and it is the hope of her many, many friends here that she will soon recover. - Attorney J. H. Price of Indianola was a visitor here the past week. - Mr. J. H. Wright made a business trip to Jackson this week. - Rev. S. W. Rogers returned Friday from Clinton, where he attended the evangelistic school. - Miss Jennie Newson of Louisville is a guest of Mrs. Wright this week. - Prof. and Mrs. W. C. Parker left this week for Miss. Agricultural High School where Prof. Parker will teach the coming session. - Frank Kilpatrick and Patty Hickman made a trip to Meridian this week. - Garner Woodruff, a former pupil in the school here, was a visitor here Sunday. - Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Reynolds of North Bend were visitors here this week. - Andrew Johnson of Columbia is visiting relatives here.
Danly Dixon Ellis, the 15 years old son of Mr. and Mrs. Felix Ellis of Gaffney, S. C., was fatally injured recently when a truck driven by his brother-in-law, J. L. Farish, passed over his body, crushing one of his shoulders and fracturing his skull at the base of the brain. He was rushed to the city hospital, where he died two hours later. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis have many friends here in their old home who deeply sympathize with them in this sad misfortune. Mr. T. J. Glass of our community, grandfather of this young man, attended the funeral, which was held at Gaffney, S. C. - Card of Thanks: We take this means of expressing our thanks to those who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our dear little Jewel and for the beautiful floral offering. SUNDAY SCHOOL CONVENTION: The Sunday School Convention for District Four will be held at Mt. Pleasant, Saturday, June 25th at 10 o’clock with the following program: WELCOME ADDRESS – Printess Humphries; RESPONSE – George Slaughter; Which should we try to interest first, Sunday School Work or the children – V. H. Cunningham; How can the teachers of day school aid in Sunday School work – Rev. Grafton; Address by Rev. Fred Long; How the Sunday School helps the young people to fight temptations of today – Grady McGee and Swinton McAlilly; Is America as a Christian nation doing her part in Christianizing the world – R. W. Boydstun; What is the duty of the Superintendent to the Sunday School – Claude Carter; Why all Sunday Schools should be organized – Rev. Overton; Superintendents are urged to attend and see that his Sunday School sends in a complete report. Bring as many of your teachers and pupils as possible with you.
