The Eupora Police Department is looking into the vandalism of the mural at the downtown BLY Art Park.
Someone threw yellow paint onto artwork that had been painted on the walls in the Art Park located next to Tower Loan on Main Street (North Dunn). The incident is estimated to have taken place between 8 p.m. Oct. 22 and 1:30 p.m. Oct. 23, according to the EPD. No surveillance cameras are in the area.
The mural was just painted this summer by Ana Blakely Davis of Stewart, who was commissioned by the Eupora Main Street Association with the help of the city.
“This is why we cannot have anything nice. I worked so hard on this mural only to have it vandalized in Eupora. I will be giving a reward to anyone who has information on who did this,” Davis wrote in a Facebook post with a photo of the vandalism.
“When you threw paint on this you didn’t realize the 175+ hours I put into this and the money that the town of Eupora put into this project to beautify the town,” she added. “I hope it was worth the little laugh you got out of it.”
A paint bucket that the vandal apparently used was left on the ground beside the mural. Davis, in a reply to a comment on her post, said the bucket contained leftover paint for touchups that had been hidden behind the mural walls.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the EPD at 662-258-4121.
