Friday was a fun day at the Maben Public Library. We read the story "Santa's Favorite Story."
This story tells about Santa falling asleep under a tree and the fox comes along and hears him snoring. He runs and tells the other animals because he thought Santa came early. Santa told them that Christmas didn't have anything to do with him and then told them his favorite story.
The first Christmas was in a place called Bethlehem. Shepherds were in the fields watching over their sheep when suddenly a bright star appeared in the sky. The shepherds heard a voice, an angel, telling them to not be afraid.
The angel told them that God sent his son to show God's love. The shepherds followed the bright star until they came to a stable. There they found a baby lying in a manger. They knew this was the Son of God so they knelt down and prayed.
“This is my favorite story,” said Santa, “because it reminds me why we are so happy this time of the year. Love is the gift God gave us this first Christmas and it is far better than any present Santa could give.”
The animals stayed and helped Santa all they could to get ready for Christmas Day. They even helped him deliver presents the night before. It was a special Christmas Day for all of them.
The children made Santa faces, decorated Christmas cards, sang a song about Santa and had fun playing in shaving cream. Friday we had Tyler Kay Bates, Magnolia, Miller and Maverick Turner.
Our December schedule is Dec. 9 and 16 for Storytime; closed Dec. 23 and 26 for Christmas.
