There is no Division of the Right or of the Wrong of Slavery. Or is it?
This country was divided from the start when one race decided to own human-beings as property instead of a more rational way to build a country.
When it comes to what this country can do, it’s not just about money. I’m not one that thinks we should start handing out money to people. But there is something that can be done. Like scholarship that you don’t have to jump through hoops for, start-up homes, debt forgiven in certain circumstances. I can go on and on with the things minorities went through and are still going through as a direct or indirect result of 200 plus years of dehumanizing and humiliation!
I would summit to you to for the ones that don’t believe this generations is being affected right now as we speak, read the Willie Lynch Letter to see the main intent of the oppressors.
Maybe some want to say, it happen so long ago and that there is nothing we can do about it now....I didn’t do anything wrong....My ancestors didn’t have slaves. People love to try and deflect blame. Or be absolved from something that was so hideous. But now one believes that there are people here today that is directly the blame for this Original Sin. But we get it, it’s normal for one to say, it wasn’t me, I’m not to blame for it but turn right around in the same breath and defend the battle flag, the state flag, confederate statues, confederate symbols and all of the those groups that built them and supported slavery when you know what they stand for, Supremacy!
Just because you can’t prove exactly the people whose ancestors were slaves does not mean you don’t try to do something.
If you have an exorbitant amount of generational wealth or land from previous generations, ask yourself did I benefit any at all from the slavery system. If you try to say you didn’t, dig a little deeper to the Industrial Revolution to see who did the bulk of the work. We all know that cotton and tobacco built this country.
So just because you or your family didn’t own slaves, does not mean that your family didn’t reap the benefits of slave labor. I ask you to be honest with yourself. Ask, how did my family come up on all this land or wealth. Did someone else of another creed or color truly have the same opportunity to purchase this or any other assets?
And these “good black friends” as you called them, ask them how good of a friend would they be if someone put them back in chains and had them picking the fields and not get paid for it. And not to mention all of the other ungodly things that happened!!
Time out for all of the self-righteous folk that says the phrase, that was then and this is now. You don’t feel the pain but we can.
So now, let’s stop looking pass the past and address it accordingly. Apologize, let the powers that be figure out some common sense solutions and methods to say it was wrong for this Origin Sin.
