Ambulance service in Choctaw County
Why does it take an ambulance 30+ minutes to reach the home of someone living in the northern part of Choctaw County? How can that ambulance not deliver that person to the hospital until over an hour after the initial 911 call?
Health care professionals agree that time is critical in the case of a serious health emergency. With a stroke, there is a limited amount of time to administer medication. In a heart attack, reaching a cardiac specialist is imperative.
People living in northern Choctaw County (District 2 and part of District 3) have experienced the above scenario for years. The Choctaw County Board of Supervisors contracted with MedStat EMS for the transport of Choctaw County residents to a medical facility. According to their website, MedStat has 200 medical professionals serving 365,000 people in 15 Mississippi counties.
On Monday, May 7 at 9 a.m., the regular meeting of the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors will include information from a MedStat official. Come to the meeting at 9 a.m. at the courthouse. Bring your concerns and questions. Hopefully, we can learn the answers.

Ready to represent
Hello my name is Charles Harris, I was born in Columbus and raised in Macon. My parents are Yolanda Harris and the late Charles Harris both of Columbus. I fathered a baby boy on October 31, 2017 named Alexander Harris who's my pride and joy. And a very special person who plays a very important role in my life, my aunt Mary Stewart of Macon.
I am the oldest of six boys. I take my boxing very serious. I've known I wanted to box every since the age of six. My favorite boxers are Mayweather, Wilder and the great Ali. My first trainer was Oliver Miller of Columbus. He made me train as hard as I could. He is very respectful, and has a loving family. I trained with him for two years, before training with Mrs. Maranda White of Macon.
She's an excellent trainer she's very outgoing. She helps me to meet my goals as a boxer. I look forward to working with her to further my career. My current record is 8-0 and currently ranking number one in the GTA. And number fifteen in the state.
I'm so excited to fight for the GTA title on June 16th at the Trotter Convention Center. I'm so excited that my life and my career are taking off and so many different ways. I'm so blessed, I have came from nothing to something. I know my father and big cousin is looking down from heaven and they are so proud of me. They are smiling and saying "my son and my cousin is following his dream". I know my mom, auntie, brothers and my fans are so proud of me as well.
I would also like for everyone to support me on my televised match on August 26th. I will be fighting on national TV on ESPN in Las Vegas in the 175-pound weight class. My career is taking off. I'm so proud of myself. GOD is blessing me so much and I would like to thank HIM and you all.
