Note of Appreciation
Dear Mr McCain: I’ve been wanting to write you a note of appreciation lately to say I think you’re about the best editor the Plaindealer has had in a good while, since the late great Mr O B Anderson, let’s say. He was a Conservative as you are but he could see the point of view of the other side too and accepted their right to say it, though somewhat grudgingly in some cases.
I’m a New Deal Democrat, let’s face it, I’m a Yeller Dog Democrat, I’d vote for a yeller dog before I’d vote for a Republican. That is to say we had our differences but I liked the rascal and I think he liked me, if grudgingly in some cases. That is until he became addicted to the games at the domino parlor up at Th’Mug, Jack Bowie proprietor. I’m sorry to say it seems to have got the better of him and caused him to somewhat neglect his duties as editor.
Sincerely, Darnell Fulgham
