A Cancer in America: Response
A judge yesterday compared Trump to Humpty Dumpty and used the following quote:
“When I use a word,” Humpty Dumpty said in rather a scornful tone, “it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less.” “The question is,” said Alice, “whether you can make words mean so many different things.” “The question is,” said Humpty Dumpty, “which is to be master—that's all.”
The strap that holds the Fascist together in America is the Republican Party. Trump simply exposed it and their voters for what they are, a combination of the KKK and the Robber Barons. He is the strong man today, but can be easily replaced if the Fascists is not dismantled. I mean, all you have to be to be a good Republican is be a good liar.
I have a bad feeling that Trump’s puppeteer will start a war in the next week that will ultimately entrench fascism from pole to pole. There will not only be hardship in the Ukraine and Russia, but the entire world. If the liars here and abroad can place the blame on Biden and the west, the patriots may be overwhelmed by the greedy fascists traitors.
Exposing the truth is the only hope we have. And luck.
P.S. In the 80’s when I was in the middle of the Pacific risking my life fighting the Russians, Trump was having secret meetings with the Communist in Moscow and then came back to the US to place full page ads in the New York papers attacking NATO. Funny how no one wants to talk about that now or ever.
Thank you for your time.

Letter on fascism column
Reading your column in the Plaindealer February 16, 2022 and it’s very easy to determine you are of the left party.
Where I agree with a few of your statements (a very few) as for as the books I will say in my opinion no books for our children should be where they can get access to should have adult themes such as sexual material.
Nor anything with views against God or patriotism. We are facing an all time low of disrespect, accountability, manners, patriotism and Godlessness in our country today.
It is tiresome to read your one sided views that are always petting the left.
It’s very obvious of your dislike for Donald Trump, who while crude and arrogant is a true American who’s policies where common sense and God driven.
It was Refreshing to have an Adult in Washington for a change.

Lies spread fascist ideals
Thanks for writing the editorial about Fascism is Cancer in Wednesday, Winston County Journal, February 16, 2022. It is a concern of mine that our country is being fed by the far-right to listen to their fascist ideals. I, too, am disturbed by the lies that are spread by some of the conservative news media and far-right politicians - yet they consider themselves Christians. What is that going to do to our next generation? They will come to believe that it is alright to lie because their leaders did. How can they compare the Black Lives Matter (BLM) protest to the violent insurrection that happened at the capitol on January 6, 2021 where people were murders and hundreds injured? There is no comparison. Of course, there was damage to some property during Black Lives Matter rallies, however, they did not come with weapons and it did not appear to be their intention to break the law but to protest peacefully against police brutality toward African Americans as they can lawfully do according to the First Amendment. To my knowledge, BLM did not murder anyone or come with the intent to murder anyone or to overthrow an election as some people did at the insurrection. Many at the insurrection cried out for Vice President Pence to be hung and for Nancy Pelosi's head. So stop lying far-right and others - accept the truth that Donald Trump did not win the election in 2020. And it appears that he had foreign help in 2016. Hopefully, the far-right is finding out what a criminal/thug Donald Trump really is and has been. Hopefully, they are finding out what a good business man he was NOT?
We must hold on to our democracy even as it is, it is the best type government for us. It is dishonest to suppress votes by any states when it has been proven over and over again that 2020 was a fair election. The fraud that was found was by members of the party that is attempting to suppress the votes for the next election. Christians do not pass laws using dishonest information to persuade other legislatures to vote for these unfair laws.

Taken for Granted But Very Important
Recently an article focused my thoughts on our hometown newspaper and its staff. Therefore, I want to express my comments about a local treasure that we may take for granted.
The Winston County Journal is not some one-size-fits-all publication. It is as unique as each article written. We make the News! (Better us- Better News!) Wednesday is “Journal Day” in Winston County and some 3,000 papers are scanned page by page upon arrival. If an article does not agree with you, then read something else. Better yet, put your own thoughts out there for others to bash! While it is Impossible for the Journal to be Liked all the Time; it should be respected and furthermore, it can be trusted!
Our editor, Joseph McCain is not some “ivory-towered big shot.” He is a calm, well-mannered, prince of a guy who pursues the common good and leans into helping the little guy. He is Our Neighbor. He is the one who goes to church with you, stops to chat with you at the grocery store, or waves at you in passing. He cares deeply about our community and helping others. More importantly, he is the one everybody else trusts to promote the things that are beneficial and try to stop that which is not. More often than not, He does!
However, if conflict should arise, Joseph is not wired to back down from a scrap if his research and his gut prove him to be right. (Good Timber and Strong Men often face harsh wind!) There’s a fishbowl effect in small towns and its newspaper is its lightning rod. It may be praised one week and dog-cussed the next. What a load he must bear when dealing with 3,000 varied opinions- but his staying true to the course serves us well!
When you contact the Journal office, you are met or answered by the kindest, most personable young lady in the front office- Chasatie Fisher. She gives your request genuine interest, courtesy, and help. She represents the most community-oriented staff found anywhere. She takes pride in her job and no topic is trivial when it comes to the truth.
Has this staff faced challenges? I know they have! I’ve thrown some at them. Now that I’m differently abled I thought my love for history and genealogy research would come to a bitter end, but it has not thanks to a staff that knows our town, county and state quite well. They have such wonderful resources for us to explore. Their help is greatly appreciated! I may be one small fish in that fishbowl, but the Journal helps keep the water clear! Thanks for being such an asset to us all!
