The Challenge: Resting Power
In this life you’re going to have some troubles. So, what do you do during your night season of trouble? Rest. Yes, rest. Resting does not mean that there is inactivity. Think about it, when you physically rest, your heart is still beating. Your blood is still flowing. From a spiritual perspective, what God has said about you is still working. God foreknew you. God is not shaken by your night season. He already knew about this day. If you haven’t been reading the Bible, then start. If you have been, do it more. Find out what the Word of God says about you and your troubles. Don’t do or say anything contrary to that. This is called walking by faith, not by sight (your troubles).
If you stay up during your night season, you will find that you only get into more trouble. You are sleep deprived, irritable, and make bad decisions. Your body will stop functioning properly leading to illnesses. From a spiritual perspective, this would be like taking matters into your own hands. Let’s look at Jonah. God had a plan for Jonah, but Jonah didn’t like it. So Jonah decided on a different plan and got himself and some more people in deeper trouble. When he surrendered (rested) to God, Jonah found out God’s plan was still working. Just like Jonah, sometimes we can make a big mess out of our lives. But just like in Jonah, God is waiting for us to repent and REST in Him.
Night seasons of tribulations come and go. How long they last depend on how well you are able to REST in the Word of God. “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” Think about it. Midnight is the darkness period of the night, but morning light is already on its way. Trouble really doesn’t last always. Hold on to the promises of God. CHALLENGE: REST in the WORD of GOD.
