THE CHALLENGE: The Good Choice
By Barbara Culberson
“Be not overcome with evil, but overcome evil with good.” Some would say that is easier said than done. But the question to ask yourself is, “have you even tried it?” The old folks used to say, “two wrongs don’t make a right.” They understood that just makes more wrong and the situation worse. If you’re going to get even with people for doing you wrong, God will not get involved. On the other hand, if you leave the evil doer to God, “vengeance belongs to God and He will repay.”
Read Psalm 37. We don’t have to get frustrated because of evil doers. The Lord is laughing at the evil doer, because God knows his day is coming. It is easy to see the wrong that others do. However, it is sometimes difficult to admit that you have done wrong. If you are the evil doer, your day is coming. As a caution, make sure you are not the evil doer.
To do good or to do evil is simply a matter of choice. Think about it. You may be having a difficult time on your job, but you choose to go to work anyway. Eventually, payday comes and the evil you endured fades. Choose to keep doing good. The CHALLENGE: Make the Good Choice!
THE CHALLENGE: Truth Thinking
By Barbara Culberson
“As a man thinketh, so is he……” In other words, the way I think sets in motion the “real me.” Sometimes this can be referred to as the Think-Feel-Do Cycle. The way I think causes me to feel a certain way. Feeling a certain then leads me to do something, which produces an event in my life. This is great if my thinking is right. My right thinking will cause me to have some feelings. These feelings in turn will produce right actions that will lead to a right event. But what happens if my thinking is wrong? My wrong thinking will yield wrong feelings. My wrong feelings will cause me to do something wrong that will result in a wrong event. I hope you are getting the picture.
“There is a way that seemeth right to a man, but the end of it are the ways of death (destruction).” How can I know if the way I’m thinking that seems right to me is really wrong thinking that will eventually destroy me? Examine yourself. Consider your ways. Do you have any hidden motives? Measure your thinking against the written Word of God which is recorded in the Bible. It has the answer for any problem, situation, crisis, etc., that you may be experiencing. If you don’t have a Bible, any Church or real Christian would be happy to help you get one. You can also download a free Bible APP on a computer or your phone. “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge, because thou has rejected knowledge.”
Many years ago, my uncle encouraged me to read my Bible. I am a living testimony that something as simple as reading the Word of God changed my life forever and it will change yours too. “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” THE CHALLENGE: READ YOUR BIBLE.
