Gone to pot
Our nation is off track and going backwards in many ways. If you watch the news, you will hear about all the types of lawlessness taking place around us.
The legalization of recreational and medical marijuana is nonsense to many and certainly most Christians. It is hard to believe that medical science does not have enough strong painkiller medications to help pain-stricken people. It is hard to believe that this new medical marijuana program will not be misused and abused.
It is recognized in research that marijuana use impairs attention, memory and learning. The state law allows purchase of 3 ounces each month. Once that amount is released to people, who will determine that it is specifically used by the pain-stricken person?
I Corinthians 3:16-17 talks about the temple of God. The temple is the local church. However, Chapter 6:19 tells us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you. The improper use of drugs is defilement of the body.
Many hats are off to Billy Tabb, Jerry Gary (Eupora aldermen) and the entire Webster County Board of Supervisors for their desire to opt out of the state's new medical marijuana law.
