Commemorating the life of Sherry Ready Weeks Raybourn
Sherry Ready Weeks Raybourn wore many hats and carried many titles. She was a daughter, wife, grandmother, cousin, mother-in-law, sister-in0law and aunt. She was Ms. Sherry- my bus driver, Ms. Sherry- the cafeteria lady, Ms. Sherry- the substitute teacher and “friend” to too many to count.
She was a caregiver to so many people over the years – her parents, aunts, uncles, and anyone who needed to be taken care of. It came so natural to her! I’ve always wished I had inherited that trait from her; but, I know that the gift that God gave HER! We are not all given the same gifts; but, it was just one of the many things that I always admired about her! She was also a very talented seamstress! She could take a “rag” and turn it into something beautiful! She never said “no” to me or anyone else who needed clothing alterations.
Of all the titles that she was given, the one that she made a priority and took the most pride in was “Mama.” She was “Mama Sherry” to more people than I could every begin to name – from my friends, to April and her friends, Will, all the children that she babysat over the years, and so so many others! She loved BIG and with her whole heart!
In a song sung by Glen Campbell, he says “There ought to be a Hall of Fame for Mamas, creation’s most unique and precious pearls.” I know that if there ever is a Hall of Fame for Mamas, Sherry Raybourn will be the first member inducted!
We would like to thank this opportunity to say “Thank You” for all of the acts of kindness that were shown to us during the time of loss of our mother and grandmother, our “precious pearl!” We appreciate the calls, texts, cards, vists, food, and especially the prayers! There are no workds to describe how devastated and heartbroken we are! Although, the pain of loss remains, having such loving friends and family to encourage and support us has helped us sto take one step ata a time as we adjust to this life without of precious loved one! God has truly blessed us with the best family, friends, neighbours and church family and we plray that He will continue to bless each and every one of you!
Thank you! I love and miss you Mama!
