Mr. Ramond Gilbert Stokes was born on January 30, 1936, to Gilbert and Ellen Anita Ferguson Stokes. He passed away peacefully on July 1, 2020. He was a retired teacher and cattle farmer. Ramond is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Rawson Stokes; a son, John Gilbert Stokes (Amy); a daughter, Laynette Ashmore (Stephen); grandchildren, Ashley Stokes Bond (David), Gilbert Guy Ashmore, and Alicia Adell Ashmore; great-grandchild, Abigail Leigh Bond; brothers, Dr. H. Duane Stokes and Henry Stokes; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ricky Stokes. Reverend Lawrence Poole conducted a graveside ceremony at Coy Community Cemetery on July 2, 2020 at 4 p.m. John E. Stephens Chapel in charge. Pallbearers were Gilbert Ashmore, David Bond, Benjamin Stokes, Casey Stokes, Will O’briant, Randall Copeland, Forrest Fulton, Billy Stokes, Harvey Trapp, Granville Fulton, Wendell Jackson, Mike Burton, Dr. Andy Brown, Bill Caldwell, Mitchell Blount, Wilford Hollingsworth, Sterling Stewart, and members of the North Bend Volunteer Fire Department.
