WHEREAS, default has occurred in the performance of the covenants, terms and conditions of a Deed of Trust dated November 8, 2007, executed by HAROLD E. DEMPSEY and ALICE H. Federal Aid Project No. CRSA-0723-00(003) LPA/107588-701000
The Board of Supervisors of Choctaw County of Ackerman, Mississippi, will receive bids for the Construction of Bridge and Approaches on Fentress-Panhandle Road for a total project length of 0.226 miles, Federal Aid Project No. CRSA-0723-00(003) LPA/107588-701000, no later than 2:00 p.m., Local Time, June 16, 2023, at the Choctaw County Courthouse located at 22 E. Quinn Street, Ackerman, Mississippi. All bids so received will be publicly opened and read aloud.
The work shall consist essentially of the following items:
Construction of a new prestressed concrete bridge and paved roadway approaches to replace an existing bridge on Fentress-Panhandle Road over Tibby Creek.
Contract Time: 120 Working Days
The above general outline of features of the work does not in any way limit the responsibility of the contractor to perform all work and furnish all plant, labor, equipment, and materials required by the specifications and the drawings referred to therein.
The attention of bidders is directed to the Contract Provisions governing selection and employment of labor. Minimum wage rates for Federal-Aid projects have been predetermined by the Secretary of Labor and are subject to Public Law 87-581 Work Hours Act of 1962, as set forth in the Contract Provisions.
The Board of Supervisors of Choctaw County hereby notifies all Bidders that it will affirmatively insure that in any contract entered into pursuant to this advertisement, disadvantaged and women’s business enterprises will be afforded the full opportunity to submit bids in response to this invitation and will not be discriminated against on the grounds of race, color, sex, age, disability, religion or national origin in consideration for an award.
The award of this contract will be contingent upon the Contractor satisfying the DBE requirements.

PLANS AND PROPOSALS may be secured from the Engineer of Record, Thomas M. (Marty) Crowder, P.E., c/o Crowder Engineering & Surveying, Inc., P. O. Box 1209, Ackerman, MS 39735 (662-285-2062). The Cost is fifty dollars ($50.00) for plans and fifty dollars ($50.00) for the proposal, non-refundable.
Each bid shall be accompanied by a Cashier’s check, Certified Check on a solvent bank or a Bidder’s Bond issued by a Surety Company licensed to operate in the State of Mississippi, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the total bid price, payable to the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors as bid security. The successful bidder will be required to furnish a Performance Bond and a Payment bond each in the amount of one hundred percent (100%) of the contract amount.
The proposal and contract documents in its entirety shall be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Chancery Clerk, 22 E. Quinn Street, P.O. Box 250, Ackerman, Mississippi 39735 prior to the hour and date above designated.
Work to be performed shall be in accordance with the “Standard Specifications for State Aid Road and Bridge Construction, 2004 Edition”, together with all amendments and/or special provisions and/or addenda to the standards duly approved and adopted, unless otherwise noted in these specifications.
The attention of Bidders is directed to the provisions of Subsection 102.07 pertaining to irregular proposals and rejection of bids.
