Timber bids
Choctaw County School District is seeking sealed bids on timber removal from the Tom Glascow Park property in Ackerman, MS owned by Choctaw County School District. All marketable timber is to be removed and sold with tops and stumps piled and all other trees and brush should be cut and piled along with the stumps. Bids should include the price per ton per timber log type as well as the estimated tonnage of each with a total estimated price. Payments will be made directly to Choctaw County School District. Bids are due and will be opened February 9, 2022, at 2:00pm in the Choctaw County School District Board Room. Bids should be delivered to Choctaw County Department of Education, PO Box 398, 19 E. Main St. Ackerman, MS 39735 by February 9, 2022, at 2:00pm. All bids should be clearly marked “Tom Glascow Park Timber Sale”. 1.1 PROJECT INFORMATION
A. Notice to Bidders: Notice is hereby given that sealed bids will be received for the project named below by the Choctaw County School District.

1.2 BID SUBMITTAL AND OPENING
A. Owner will receive sealed bids until the bid time and date at the location listed below. Proposals shall be submitted in a sealed envelope clearly marked on the outside with the following: "Choctaw County School District 456 E Cherry Demolition to be opened February 9, 2022 at 2:00PM". Envelope shall be addressed to "Choctaw County School District, 19 E. Main St., PO Box 398 Ackerman, MS 39735". The envelope shall include the bidders company name, address, and all state and local license numbers. Envelopes not marked as described will be submitted at the risk of the bidder. Choctaw County School District will not be responsible for premature opening of any envelopes not marked as described above.

B. Proposals shall be submitted in duplicate only upon the blank proposal forms provided with the specifications and must be accompanied by proposal security in the form of a certified check or acceptable bid bond in the amount equal to at least five percent (5%) of the base bid: such security to be forfeited as liquidated damages, not penalty, by any bidder who fails to carry out the terms of the proposal, execute contract and post performance bond in the form and amount with in the time specified. The bid bond, if used, shall be payable to the owner.
C. Bids will be taken in the board room and thereafter publicly opened and read aloud.
1.3 BID SECURITY
A. Bid security shall be submitted and equal to five percent (5%) of the bid amount if the bid exceeds $50,000.00 based on estimated tonnage. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of sixty (60) days after the opening of bids. The owner reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any informalities and irregularities.
B. The owner reserves the right to postpone action and final decision for a period of up to sixty (60) days.
1.4 PREBID CONFERENCE
A. A pre-bid conference WILL NOT be held for this project. The site is available for review. Call for a walkthrough.
1.5 DOCUMENTS
A. Bid documents may be obtained from the Owner as set out below.
1. Contractors may obtain one paper copy at the owner's office at no charge.
2. Contractors may obtain a digital copy by contacting the owner's representative.
3. Partial sets will not be issued.
4. Copies of the request for proposal will be available through the owner's office only.
1.6 TIME OF COMPLETION AND LIQUIDATED DAMAGES
A. The successful bidder shall begin work upon receipt of a written notice to proceed and shall complete the work by the date of April 15, 2022. Work is subject to liquidated damages.
1.7 BIDDERS QUALIFICATIONS
A. Bidders must be properly licensed under all state and local laws and be able to obtain insurance and bonds required for the work. Any bid submitted in excess of $50,000.00 by a prime or subcontractor to do any erection, building, construction, repair, maintenance, or related work must comply with the Mississippi Contractors Act of 1985 by securing a Certificate of Responsibility from the State Board of Contractors.
