It was a successful non-conference portion of the schedule for the East Webster softball team but the Lady Wolverines had the most important games starting last week with Class 2A, Region 2 games.
EWHS went on the road to play Bruce and hosted Calhoun City at home coming away with two dominating wins and a 2-0 start in district play.
A four-inning win at Bruce saw the Lady Wolverines put up eight runs in the first inning on the way to a blowout 16-0 victory on the road. Liz Massey gave up just two hits, walked four batters and struck out three to earn the win in the circle.
At the plate, it was a huge night for Katelee Box as she went 3-for-4, hit a grand slam and drove in six total runs. Peyton Flora was 2-for-3 with two RBI and a triple while Abby Williams had a double and went 2-for-4.
The offense wasn’t as potent for the Lady Wolverines on Thursday against Calhoun City but the result was still a win. Massey was a big reason for the victory holding CCHS to just three hits and one run with one walk in the game. She struck out two batters as well. EWHS didn’t have an extra base hit in a 6-1 victory and had just five hits total. Box drove in two more runs on a hit.
