The Lady Wildcats are having one of its better years this season and still has a chance to take the third spot in district. They recently met up with two of the top teams in district Kosciusko and Caledonia. And even though neither game went in the favor of the Wildcats, it’s the improvements that they’re seeing that’s the brighter side.
The Lady Wildcats this year are 9-6 right now, and compared to their season last year, that’s an improvement within itself. And even though they fell to Kosciusko and Caledonia, they were able to get on the board in the second game of both series.
In their first matchup with Caledonia, the Lady Cavaliers run-ruled the Lady Wildcats. On the mound for the Lady Wildcats was Avery Thompkins. She pitched two and half innings due to the run-rule and had 10 hitters, 15 runs and three walks. Jaidah Dixon was the lone hitter for the Lady Wildcats, but they couldn’t get past the Lady Cavaliers defense.
In the second game, the Lady Wildcats were run-ruled again but, they were able to get on the board with two runs. Dixon was again the lone hitter, and Louisville runs from Ker’rhianna Parker and Re’niya Savior.
The Lady Wildcats were able to bounce back against neighboring Grace Christian Lady Eagles.
Thompkins was on the mound again for the Lady Wildcats and pitched three innings. She had four hitters, one run, one walk and six strikeouts.
In this game, it was the Lady Wildcats who run-ruled the Lady Eagles. The Lady Wildcats saw RBIs from Sahayley Yarbrough, Mahogany Hoskins, Jikenya Jackson, Sakenya Glenn and Dixon. Glenn and Dixon also had doubles.
If the Lady Wildcats can get wins against Houston and Greenwood, they would take the third spot in district – as it stands now – and who earn a playoff spot in the postseason.
