It was another good week for the Nanih Waiya basketball teams.
Both teams finished the regular season with a pair of wins, sweeping Ethel and rival Nanih Waiya as the boys teams finished as Division 6-1A regular-season champions.
The Warriors finished with two more wins, beating Noxapater 69-22 and Ethel 61-30. The Warriors finished 9-1 in division play and 14-6 overall.
The Lady Warriors beat Ethel 51-30 and Noxapater 56-43 and are the No. 3 seed and will take on No. 6 seed French Camp in first-round action.
Nanih Waiya girls 56, Noxapater 43
The Lady Warriors built an early lead and finished strong to take a 13-point win over the Lady Tigers.
Nanih Waiya opened up an 18-11 lead in the first period while Noxapater took the second period 12-10 to cut the lead to 28-23 at the half. Nanih Waiya started to pull away in the second half and outscored Noxapater 11-8 in the thirdhand 17-12 in the fourth.
Zandy Eiland led Nanih Waiya with 19 points while Ky Spivey had 14 points. Jasmine Hickman also had 12 points.
Nanih Waiya boys 69, Noxapater 22
The Warriors pulled ahead in the middle two periods and took a 47-point win over the rival Tigers.
Nanih Waiya led 16-10 at the end of the first period before outscoring Noxapater 26-3 in the second period to lead 42-13 at the half. The Warriors continued to extend the lead in the second half as they outscored Noxapater 21-6 in the third and 6-3 in the fourth.
Jaqurious Hughes and Sameer Hughes led Nanih Waiya with 14 points each while Preston Prewitt had 10 points. Justin Anderson had eight points while Briceton Boler and Conner Hickman each had six points apiece.
Nanih Waiya boys 61, Ethel 30
The Warriors pulled away in the second half to take a 31-point win over the Tigers on Tuesday.
Nanih Waiya led 15-8 at the end of the first and 23-17 at the half. But the Warriors then outscored the Tigers 23-8 in the third and 20-5 in the fourth to take the win.
Jaqurious Hughes led Nanih Waiya with 16 points while Conner Hickman had 11 points. Preston Prewitt had nine points while Briceton Boler had eight points.
Nanih Waiya girls 51, Ethel 30
The Lady Warriors used a big second half to pull way and beat the Lady Tigers.
Nanih Waiya led 11-10 at the end of the first period and 23-17 at the half. The Lady Warriors got rolling in the second half and outscored the Lady Tigers 15-4 in the third and 15-9 in the fourth.
Jasmine Hickman led Nanih Waiya with 27 points while Zandy Eiland had 16 points.
