French Camp softball had a win and two losses last week. The Lady Panthers defeated J.Z. George 17-0, but lost to Union 6-1 and Pontotoc, a 4A school, 17-0.
Coach Todd Chesser said the team is experiencing the growing pains that go with youth. “We're learning, It's a learning process.”
The J.Z. George game ended after 2½ innings. The Lady Panthers scored 10 runs in the bottom of the first and seven more in the second.
Aubrey Burrell pitched for French Camp, allowing one hit, with six strikeouts and no walks. Julia Littlejohn had a single and double, drove in one run and scored twice. Abby Leathers went two for two, with three RBIs and three runs scored and Ainsley Dew had three RBIs and scored two runs.

Bailey Henderson had French Camp's only hit against Pontotoc. Channing Lane led Pontotoc's 13-hit attack with two doubles and a single.
“You gotta hit,” Chessen said. “Play defense and hit and you can win ball games.”
