In the words of the rapper DMX, the County Boys got one more road to cross, one more risk ñ or in their case game ñ to take, before meeting their opponent at the Rock in Hattiesburg. And this one is a familiar foe, but before we get to that letís talk about the County Boys dominating first half against the Rosa Fort Lions. After coming in battle tested off of the win against Winona, the County Boys wasted no time introducing themselves to Rosa Fort. Junior Chavez Sellers had a big game for the Chargers as Cork went with a Tayshawn King, Jeramiah Miller, Caleb Cunningham combo with sellers finishing up with a 25 yard run. With a PAT from Mathew Coleman, the Chargers went up 7-0. Together, Sellers and Cork made up for all 35 of the Chargers points. Sellers had five carries for 47 yards and three touchdowns. Cork was eight for 12 for 73 yards. He also had three carries for 26 yards and two touchdowns of his own. Rosa Fort made it difficult for Cunningham and Miller to add to their touchdown stats, but they were both able to gain yardage. Cunningham had three catches for 36 yards and Miller had two catches for 18 yards. Miller also had 11 carries for 179 yards. And it was all Chargers all night. The defense was solid all night pushing Rosa Fort to three and outs all night. Rosa Fort saw a little light, recovering a few fumbles and a tipped interception, but Rosa Fort couldnít capitalize on the small lights that they received. On the next drive, Cork went to Jeramiah Miller and Sellers and with Coleman added another PAT the Chargers went 14-0. And with another three and out, Cork went to Sellers on another drive. Coleman followed with another PAT making the score 21-0. After another three and out, the Chargers went back up 28-0 with Cork on a one yard keeper and with another PAT from Coleman. With the Chargers back on defense, Sophomore Ben Shumaker took an interception back, giving the Chargers a safety after refs said he stepped out of bounds, sending the Chargers up 30-0. With Chargers back on defense again, Cam Potts recovered a fumble setting the County Boys up for another score. And they capitalized with Cork on another keeper, and with Coleman sending another PAT through the uprights, the County Boys put away Rosa Fort 37-0 in two quarters. The second string made sure the Rosa Fort Lions couldnít score again, although they kept attempting. But fighting another running clock, it was hard for the Lions to fight back. And for the second time in school history, the Chargers are now one game away from Thursday, December 3 at 4 p.m. at M. M. Roberts Stadium. And, they face a familiar opponent, the East Webster Wolverines in the another round of the Highway 15 Bowl. In the first meeting, the County Boys took the win away from their Webster County rivals 49-14 in Charger Stadium. And in the second meeting, their focus is to finish what they started in August ñ the goal, the main thing ñ playing at The Rock.
