Choctaw County Career and Technology Center had a busy first semester! First-semester activities included guest speakers, field trips, fundraisers, and community service opportunities. CTE Senior concentrators in the spotlight for January are Devon Jordan and Antonio Kennedy.
Devon Jordan is enrolled in CCCTC’s Sports Medicine program, and his instructor is Mr. Bill Johnson. Upon completion of the first-year program, Health Science Core, students have the option of choosing either Sports Medicine or Healthcare and Clinical Services for their enrollment concentration as second-year students. As a senior at Choctaw County High School, Devon is a member of the Varsity Charger Football, Basketball, and Track Teams. He was awarded the Sixth Man Award in Basketball. After graduation, Devon plans to continue his athletic ambitions and also pursue a degree in Kinesiology. The things he enjoys most about the Sports Medicine program include the opportunities he has been given for hands-on and real-life experiences and the off-campus curriculum-based field trips. Devon is the son of Chris and Denise Jordan.
Antonio Kennedy is a second-year student in the Ag Power and Machinery program. His parents are Precious McCane, and Dupree Kennedy and his Ag Power Instructor is Mr. Adam Berry. Antonio is a member of the Varsity Charger Football team as well as the Track and Powerlifting teams. His awards and achievements include an invitation for membership in the CCHS High School Beta Club, 1st team all-district as a freshman, Super 24 as a sophomore, Back-to-back offensive MVP winner as a junior and senior, state qualifier in both powerlifting and track and field, and multiple Starkville Daily News player of the week awards. Antonio’s plans for the future include attending college and continuing his football career. Although his major is undecided at this time, he is interested in earning a degree in business. Antonio enjoys his CTE class and says that his favorite aspects of the Ag Power and Machinery class are the life skills and leadership qualities that he has learned this year. He feels that these skills and leadership qualities will help ensure his future success!
