Grace Christian’s Anna Rose Eaves recently signed her letter of intent to continue her basketball career at Bryan College in Dayton, Tennessee. The Lions are a NAIA program in the Appalachian Athletic Conference. This last season, the Lions posted a 25-7 record, going 21-2 in conference play. The Lions advanced all the way to the Round of 32 in the NAIA National Tournament. The Lions are coached by Gabe Johnson.
Eaves helped the Lady Eagles to their fourth consecutive Tri State Christian Conference Championship with and ISCA State Championship, with her incredible three-point shooting this last season. Eaves shot over 45 percent from behind the arch this year. GCS Headmaster and Head Coach of the Lady Eagles Talor Troyer said that Eaves has what it takes to carry that success to the next level.
“She is an excellent shooter, but what has brought her to this point is her hard work.” Eaves is a player who spent countless hours in the gym, working to perfect her craft. Troyer said Eaves would be shooting before school, before practice, after practice, and even on the weekends. “She put in a lot of time to become a great player,” Troyer said, “She has an amazing work ethic.” Eaves also excelled this season on the defensive end as well.
Troyer had a lot to say about Eaves as not only a player, but a person and student as well.
Eaves is the salutatorian for the GCS Graduating Class of 2024 and has also worked on a plethora of service projects with the GCS, the Rotary Club, and East Louisville Baptist Church. “She is an amazing young lady, who pours into everything that she does,” Troyer said.
However, Eaves is not the only person involved in this story with connections to Bryan.
Troyer actually attended and played women's basketball at Bryan College. While there, Troyer and the Lions won the school’s first conference championship in school history.
Troyer is excited to see Eaves get the same experience she had while at Bryan. Bryan College has a motto of “Christ above all.”
“That was my experience there,” Troyer said, “People care so much about you, your heart, and who you are becoming.”
Troyer is sure that Eaves will find nothing but success while at Bryan.
“Bryan will be good for her, and she will be good for Bryan,” she said.
