The local grand jury handed up indictments after being recalled last week.
The grand jurors, who were empaneled at the June term of Webster County Circuit Court, were recalled Dec. 10 and were in one session for one day. Stan Heath served as foreman.
The grand jury, according to its latest report, investigated 63 reported violations of the law and questioned 10 witnesses.
Afterwards, they returned into open court 16 true bills recorded on seven indictments.
Twenty-one cases were no-billed, 24 cases were continued for further investigation and two cases were remanded to lower court.
An indictment is a written statement charging someone with committing a felony, or serious criminal offense.
A new grand jury will be impaneled when the next two-week Circuit Court term begins Jan. 20 at the courthouse in Walthall.
