JACKSON, Miss. – Along with the Municipal elections this year, residents in Choctaw County will go to the polls to vote in a special election for the Sixth Chancery District, Place 1.
The seat was held by former Justice Joseph Kilgore, who resigned from the position this summer. The sixth district Chancery Court includes: Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Kemper, Neshoba and Winston Counties. Governor Tate Reeves appointed Doug Crosby to the seat. Qualifying deadline for this election is February 3 and the election will take place on November 4.
Reeves also announced special elections for: The two special elections for House District 23 (Calhoun, Lafayette, Pontotoc, Webster Counties) and for House District 82 (Lauderdale County) will be held on March 25, 2025. The qualifying deadline for these elections is February 3, 2025.
Two other trial districts are on the special election list: Twelfth Chancery District, Place 1 (Clarke and Lauderdale Counties), and Twelfth Circuit District, Place 2 (Forrest and Perry Counties) on November 4, 2025. The qualifying deadline for these elections is February 3, 2025.
First Circuit Court District (Alcorn, Itawamba, Lee, Monroe, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Tishomingo Counties) November 4, 2025. The qualifying deadline for this election is September 5, 2025.
