Garbage pickup for Choctaw County residents will be delayed by one day due to the Memorial Day holiday next Monday.
This change will be a yearly change as the Choctaw County Board of Supervisors approved to allow the Solid Waste department to have Memorial Day off.
Supervisor Chris McIntire said previously the department only have five days off. Fourth of July, Labor Day, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Veterans Day. This gives the department an additional paid holiday off, bringing the total to six.
Because of this, residents will have their pickup deliveries delayed by one day. If your garbage is picked up on Monday, it will be Tuesday, May 28. Tuesday’s pickup will be Wednesday, May 29, Wednesday’s will be Thursday, May 30, Thursday’s will be Friday May 31 and Friday’s pickup will be Saturday, June 1.
McIntire said garbage pick up has only delayed because of the five holidays or severe weather.
Residents should adjust their schedules next week to prepare.
