Gas metal arc welding training and basic manufacturing training classes are upcoming in Ackerman and Eupora.
GMAW training will be offered Sept. 10-Nov. 12 at the Choctaw County Career and Technology Center, 501 E. Church St. in Ackerman, and Oct. 1-31 at the Webster County Career and Technology Center welding lab, 605 Hall Road in Eupora.
Meeting days and times are every Tuesday from 4:30-7:30 p.m. in Ackerman, and every Tuesday and Thursday from 5-8 p.m. in Eupora. The cost of either GMAW course is $125.
Upon completion of this course, the participant should have an understanding of hazards of GMAW, how to set up and maintain a semiautomatic arc welding unit, and make satisfactory welds in flat, vertical, horizontal and overhead positions.
Free basic manufacturing training will be offered from 4:30-8:30 p.m. Sept. 16-19 and Sept. 23-25 at the WCCTC in Eupora. Students must be 18 and have a high school diploma or equivalency.
The 24-hour class covers industrial math, safety, workplace documents, CPR, first-aid and precision measurement. Students will take the National Career Readiness Certificate (WorkKeys) at the end of the class.
