Webster County’s unemployment rate decreased six-tenths of a percentage point to 5% in February.
The county’s jobless rate was 5.6% in January and also 5% in February 2018, according to Mississippi Department of Employment Security statistics.
The number of unemployed Webster Countians in February decreased by 20 to 190. The labor force, which is made up of everyone who has a job or is looking for one, increased by 120 to 3,850.
The state’s non-seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.8% in February while the national average, also unadjusted, was 4.1%.
February jobless rates in adjoining counties: Calhoun, 4.9%; Chickasaw, 5%; Choctaw, 5%; Clay, 6.2%; Grenada, 4.6%; Montgomery, 5.5%; Oktibbeha, 4.5%.
