Annabelle Moorman Crowder of Choctaw Count will be competing in the statewide Distinguished Young Woman Program. A trunk show will be held in her honor at 6 p.m., Friday, July 5 at the Choctaw County Library.
Crowder is the daughter Marty and Kathrine Crowder of Ackerman. She will be a senior at Grace Christian School. Her career goals are to be a speech language pathologist/ audiologist. She plans to attend Mississippi State University.
She is Student Council Vice President, Ackerman Juniorette, Level Elite Volleyball, GCS Varsity Volleyball, Beta Club member, FCA member, GCE Musical Theatre, First Presbyterian of Louisville Youth Group, GCS Choir, and a member of the Yearbook staff.
Crowder plans to play the piano for her talent.
DYW Preliminaries will be held on Thursday July 18th and Friday July 19th. Finals will be Saturday, July 20th in Meridian. Annabelle can receive emails of support at 4annabellecrowder@msjrmiss.com. Since 1958, more than 700,000 college-bound young women have taken part in the program, and more than 200 colleges and universities support the program with scholarships and other assistance.
The local awards are just part of a nationwide program to recognize, reward, and encourage excellence among young people by spotlighting the accomplishments of high school girls.
The 20th Century Club of Ackerman sponsors the county program and the Trunk Show.
