At around 6:30 pm, Sunday, February 9, a one-vehicle accident claimed the life of one individual.
The accident occurred on Hwy. 14 West near the intersection of Highpoint-Weir Rd. Officers of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and Winston Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene, and according to Chief Deputy Keith Alexander there was no indication of the cause of the accident.
The vehicle, which had a Choctaw County license plate, left the road and struck a utility pole.
The driver was pronounced dead on the scene and his body was transported to the state medical examiner for an autopsy. The driver’s name has not been released.
In an unrelated incident, there was a three-vehicle accident on Monday afternoon, February 10 at around 4 pm, on Hwy 15 South near Baker’s Acres. Alexander reported that the weather played a factor in the accident.
One person was transported to Winston
Medical Center by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
