Friends of the Library will be hosting an exciting meeting on October 24, 2019 at the Choctaw County Library starting at 6 p.m.
This event will focus on the steps involved in having written work published.
Ms. Charlotte Taylor, president of the organization, said, “Many people have a wonderful story in their heads and want to share it with others. Unfortunately, they may not believe it is possible to have their work published. We want to let people in our community know it is absolutely possible!”
Speakers will include Ms. Kim Coghlan owner of Coghlan Professional Editing Services in Tupelo, MS. She is also an associate editor with TouchPoint Press. She has edited hundreds of manuscripts, including more than 75 traditionally published books.
Kim loves helping people see their dreams of becoming an author morph into reality. She has worked with authors from all around the world. Ms. Coghlan has a Masters in English and is the daughter of Billy and Vickki Carlisle of Ackerman.
Local writer, Benny Graves will also be speaking. As a newly published author, he will share the steps he went through from beginning with the idea all the way through to having his book published by Sartoris Literary Group and offered on Amazon. He will outline how he worked with Ms. Coghlan, the ups and downs of submitting manuscripts, and what to expect once a manuscript is accepted and a contract is signed. His book, Dancing with Trees: A Family Journal is set in Ackerman, MS.
Audience will have a time to ask questions and learn specifics about the writing process as well as the steps involved in publishing. It will be an excellent opportunity for anyone, young or old, to learn more about how writers become published authors!
Refreshments will be served.
