The Webster County School Board has extended Superintendent Brian Jones’ contract for an additional year.
The board voted unanimously to do so Nov. 15. Minutes show the board voted to extend his existing contract by one year with no increase to base salary, but with an increase in travel allowance of $250 a month. Scott Hollenhead (District 4) was not present but voted aye by phone, according to the minutes.
During the superintendent’s reports, Jones presented a letter from Secretary of State Delbert Hosemann congratulating the county school district on its “B” rating. Jones also presented an attendance and discipline report for each school for the school year to date.
Minutes show the board went into two different executive sessions — the first to discuss a personnel issue and the second to hear a parent complaint. No action was taken in either session.
The minutes reflect that Mississippi School Boards Association legal counsel Jim Keith was among those in attendance at the meeting but do not specifically indicate whether he met with the board during either or both executive sessions.
