Heavy rain and flash floods damaged homes and washed out roads throughout the county last week.
Two homes and multiple roads in Webster County were damaged from flooding that started Feb. 19, according to initial assessments from the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency.
County Emergency Management Director Barry Rushing said one of the homes with water damage was on Old Walthall Road (just south of Snow Bottom Road) and the other was on Pate Road in Mantee. He said the damaged roads were all over the county.
Webster 911 reports for Feb. 20 shows calls received throughout the day for water being over roads and/or washed out. These included Gifford Street in Eupora, Cummings Road, Chester-Tomnolen Road, Mt. Vernon Road, Lucius Road and Landrum Road.
Webster County Schools started two hours later than normal Friday because of the threat of overnight thunderstorms with heavy rain and possible hazardous road conditions.
Following severe weather Saturday afternoon, Webster 911 received reports of a tree across the Natchez Trace and another on a power line on Mantee Road.
Rushing and others were riding over county roads Monday morning as he prepared to turn in damage assessments to MEMA.
