During the regularly scheduled meeting of the City of Louisville Board of Aldermen, Tuesday evening, July 2, newly appointed Chief of Police Sean Holdiness made several requests which were unanimously approved by the Board.
The requests included promoting Capt. Ed Hunt to the position of Asst. Chief of Police; the promotion of Sgt. Gerald Hayes to the rank of Shift Capt.; the rehiring of Stefan McCall as a patrolman; the hiring of Nicholas Shumaker as a patrolman. Holdiness also reported that the patrol shifts will be changing from eight-hour shifts to 12-hour shifts.
In related measures, the Board acknowledged the retirement of Chief of Police L.M. Claiborne effective June 30, and the official start date of Holdiness on June 26.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to authorize payment to PPM in the amount of $7K, for professional services through May 31, on the EPA Brownfield Project.
• Voted 5-0 to authorize payment of $203.7K to First National Bank of Clarksdale for the August 1 payment on the 2018 GO Bond.
• Voted 5-0 to table the Solid Waste proposals received on June 20, 2019.
• Voted 5-0 to authorize the publication of tax maturities and delinquencies.
• Voted 5-0 to set and give notice of a budget hearing for Tuesday, August 6 at 5 p.m.
The Louisville Board of Aldermen meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
On Tuesday evening, July 2, just prior to the Louisville Board of Aldermen meeting. Sean Holdiness was sworn in as the new Louisville Chief of Police. The oath was administered by Municipal Judge David Wilson. Holdiness' wife, Charity, held the Bible during the ceremony.
