A man died at the scene of an accident last week on Highway 404 in which a semi-trailer hauling fertilizer overturned.
Deputy Dillion Cates, who worked the accident, said it was reported to the Webster County Sheriff’s Department at 11:05 a.m. May 21. He identified the driver as Phillip L. “Lynn” Lucius, 48, of Calhoun City.
According to Cates, the 18-wheeler Lucius was driving on Highway 404 overturned just south of Harmony Church Road, spilling tons of fertilizer. Lucius died at the scene.
Parker Brothers towed the truck and was in charge of the diesel and fertilizer cleanup, which Cates said was completed around 7:30 p.m.
Services for Lucius, who worked in the family trucking business, were Friday at Pryor Funeral Home with burial in New Providence Cemetery.
