In their first meeting of March, the Louisville Board of Aldermen heard a report from Mayor Will Hill that a number of recovery projects are either unchanged or moving forward.
Hill stated that Fire Chief Johnny Haynes is scheduled to travel to Fairhope, AL on March 21 to view the new fire engine.
The safe room is essentially complete, awaiting parking lot pavement and some landscaping, with inclement weather being the hold-up. The official ribbon-cutting and the annual Chamber of Commerce dinner in the new facility are scheduled for April 25.
The Ivy Park renovation continues with the playground and splash pad complete; sprigging of grass on the new youth baseball/softball fields will not take place until April, and there is some landscaping work still to be completed on the project, with weather being the greatest delay. Downtown traffic signals are now awaiting action by MDOT.
On the park renovation, the Board voted 3-0 to authorize payment to Site Master for $93K. Alderwomen Judy McLeod and Gwenita Mays were not present.
On safe room construction the Board voted 4-0 to authorize the following payments, with Mays having entered the meeting at this time:
Burks Mordecai, $$94.7K
Broaddus & Associates, $2.38K
JBHM Architect, $3.6K
Louisville Utilities, $594.
In other action, the Board:
Voted 4-0 to authorize payment of Docket of Claims #26741-26873 for $94.7K.
Voted 4-0 to authorize payment to PPM for $1K for professional services on the EPA Brownfield Project, through January 31, 2019.
