During their first meeting of 2019 the Louisville Board of Aldermen received an update the Capital and Recovery Projects and the Safe Room from Mayor Will Hill.
Hill explained that several of the projects remain unchanged since the last meeting. The updates included:
• Concerning equipment purchases, there has been a delay in delivery of the new fire engine until February.
• Hill asked for approval to pay a 60-day invoice to Jerry Pate Turf and Irrigation in the amount of $34.59K which the Board approved unanimously.
• MDOT has been provided all necessary information for the traffic signal project, which should proceed in the spring.
• Materials have been delivered for the new building at the old National Guard Armory. The Board voted 5-0 to approve payment of $46K to Weathers Construction for the materials.
• The Board voted unanimously to approve the following payments on the Safe Room project:
• Burks-Mordecai Builders $135.85K.
• Broadus & Associates $2.45K.
• JBHM Architects $3.8K
• Louisville Utilities $224.
The Board heard from Code Enforcement Officer Jody Fulton that the property at 162 W. Jefferson St., owned by Applewhite Acquisitions, is unsafe and unclean. Fulton recommended giving the owners 14 days to clean the property.
In other action, the Board:
• Voted 5-0 to authorize payment of Docket of Claims #26275-26451 for $102.44K.
• On the EPA Brownfield project, voted 5-0 to authorize payment to PPM for $23.19K for professional services through November 30, 2018.
• Voted 5-0 to authorize payment to First National Bank of Clarksdale for $1.24K for administrative fee on the 2018 GO Bond.
• Voted 5-0 to approve hiring Police Officer 1st Class Cory Shields, effective January 31.
• Voted 5-0 to acknowledge a donation of $671 from the Friends of the Animals for cages at the animal shelter.
The next scheduled meeting of the Louisville Board of Aldermen is Tuesday, January 22 at 5:30 p.m.
