Friends of the Library will be hosting an art show on Thursday, August 1st at 6 pm at the Choctaw County Library.
“Art and literature go hand in hand. There is so much artistic talent in our area. We want to showcase that talent by featuring native Choctaw County artists as part of our general meeting of the Friends.” said Charlotte Taylor, president.
Works of art will include original pieces only and will feature a variety of mediums, such as watercolor, acrylic, oil, drawing, ceramics, and sculpture. Each artist will be exhibiting up to three pieces. In addition, each artist will be available at the meeting to answer questions and to provide a short description of how they accomplished their work.
Artwork will also be displayed in the Library’s conference room from Friday, August 2 through Monday, August 5th following the general meeting.
The purpose the Friends of the Library organization is to maintain an association of persons interested in books and libraries, to focus public attention on library services, facilities and needs, to stimulate gifts of books, magazines, collection endowments and bequests, and to purchase items intended to benefit the library and patrons. Friends of the Choctaw County Library is working diligently to bring awareness to the public about the Library and the importance it holds in our local community.
This is an opportunity for all ages to take advantage of a special event and learn more about the exciting programs at the Choctaw County Library.
