It’s Jack’ O Lantern Jam time! Bring your kids and enjoy this FREE family friendly night of fun with the scarecrow trail, pumpkin contest, games, trunk-or-treat, and inflatable slides. Jack’ O Lantern Jam is Saturday, October 20 at 5pm on the Choctaw County Courthouse lawn.
All activities kick off at 5pm and are first come, first serve. All activities are free except the Jail N’ Bail.
Trunk-or-Treat is one of the favorite activities at Jack O’ Lantern Jam. Stop by the 18 decorated trunks to receive a treat.
The fun continues with games sponsored by local school groups and area organizations. The games are Go Fish, Basketball Shoot, Pumpkin Toss, Toilet Roll Toss and Face Painting. Bring your camera to take your kids’ photos at our fall photo scene.
Bring your decorated pumpkin to Jack’ O Lantern Jam to enter the 5th Annual Pumpkin Contest. Youth and adults are encouraged to bring their decorated or carved pumpkin to the event. No fee to enter. You can enter more than one pumpkin but they must be family friendly. All entered pumpkins will be displayed outside so make sure to stop by and look at all the entries. Pumpkins should be taken home after judging has been completed. The Choctaw County Master Gardeners sponsor the Pumpkin Contest.
Coming back this year is the inflatable jumpers. Children will enjoy an obstacle course, slide and jump house.
New this year is the Jail N’ Bail. Have your friends, parents and kids “arrested” and put in the slammer! Fill out an arrest warrant for $1 - $5 and an “officer” will arrest that person and bring them to the “jail.” They must pay/match to bail out of jail. Everyone must be present at Jack O’ Lantern Jam to participate.
We have supper covered, too! The Chamber of Commerce will be selling grilled hot dogs and hamburgers, chips, popcorn and drinks. Come hungry to support Jack O’ Lantern Jam.
You can find the 9th Annual Scarecrow Trail at the walking track in Ackerman. Businesses, organizations and individuals set up the Scarecrow Trail. The Choctaw County Master Gardeners sponsor the Scarecrow Trail.
Earlier that afternoon, at 1pm, is the Autumn Beauty Review at the Ty Cobb Auditorium in Ackerman. Doors open at 11 am. Admission will be free for kids under 5. Ages 6 and up will be $5 at the door. Parents will have to pay admission. Come support these beauties and beaus as they participate in the Autumn Beauty Review.
