Choctaw County’s Distinguished Young Woman, Annabelle Crowder, gave a glimpse of what will happen at the state program in Meridian during her trunk show that was held Friday, July 5th, at the Choctaw County Library. The preliminaries for the state program will be Thursday, July 18th and Friday, July 19th in Meridian.
The Twentieth Century Club sponsors the scholarship program each spring. A representative is chosen and she prepares for the state program, which is a week-long event, held in July. The trunk show gave those who aren’t able to make it to Meridian the opportunity to find out what happens in Meridian.
Crowder modeled several outfits that she will be wearing at all the activities in Meridian, including her host family Luau party attire and a Red Carpet Party outfit. Crowder also performed her talent which is a piece-Jocularity by Stephen Heller.
Crowder practiced her interview skills in front of the audience. She has also been able to prepare for the physical fitness routine since the routine DVD was given early. Annabelle has put in many hours of work to prepare for the experience.
Ginny Lucas, Program Chairman, shared the basic itinerary of what Crowder would be doing once in Meridian. Not only will Crowder have countless hours of rehearsals, but she will also attend a Judges’ Party and visit a local retirement home. While in Meridian, Annabelle will stay with a host family that will help provide anything she might need during the week.
Crowder is participant #4, and she will perform her talent on Thursday night. On Friday night, July 19th, she will compete in Self-Expression and fitness. Finals for the top ten will be on Saturday night.
