Although the Louisville Annual Christmas Parade didn’t kickoff until 5:30 in downtown Louisville, people were seen staking out prime viewing seats as early as 4 p.m.
The cold weather, dropping down to 31 degrees with a wind, did not deter the crowds as the parade participants worked to evoke the Christmas spirit.
This year’s theme was “Mississippi Christmas”. George Henry Hughes, simply known in the community as George Henry, was the 2019 “Grand Marshal” for the annual Louisville Christmas Parade.
The parade began at the Coliseum on Ivy Avenue and ended at Fair Elementary on Columbus Avenue.
Ella Claire Gregory sang the National Anthem and Will Hill provided the opening prayer.
After the floats, cars, teams and all the participants including Santa Claus completed the parade route judges chose the best entrants.
The winners were: 1st place went to Polo Custom Products who won $100. Second place went to Louisville elementary School who won $50. Third place went to Louisville Lightening Softball who won $25. The Honorable Mention for the eventing was the Winston Academy Pee Wee Football.
Winston County Chamber of Commerce sponsored and arranged the parade and were glad with the success of the evening the crowd that runed out for the event.
