Winston County Sheriff Jason Pugh reported that two burglaries occurred in separate areas of the county over the weekend; he added that there is no indication that the incidents are related.
The first burglary took place on Hwy. 15 South sometime during the day on Friday, August 23. A second burglary occurred at the Pit Stop in the Nanih Waiya community at around 4 a.m. Sunday morning. Miscellaneous items were taken in both.
Pugh stated they do have a suspect in the Pit Stop burglary,but no arrest has been made. There is no suspect yet in the incident on Hwy. 15 South.
One person has posted a reward on social media for information that leads to the arrest of the persons or person responsible.
Residents urged to keep doors locked up and equipment in secure places
The Winston County Sheriff’s Department is encouraging residents to keep lawn equipment and power tools secured as a theft deterrent.
