Lance D. Bolen has been named the new principal of Eupora High School effective July 1.

Security guards
The School Board voted April 16 to approve a contract submitted by TBL Security Services of Starkville for providing armed security guards for each of the school campuses for the remainder of the school year.
This was based upon the legal opinion of board attorney Hugh Gibson and as recommended by Jones, the minutes reflect. The board had approved Jones’ April 2 request to obtain quotes from private security services for armed officers at each school campus for the remainder of the school year, which ends Friday for students.
TBL Security was one of two companies presenting quotes to the board, which took them under advisement April 9. The decision to hire armed officers apparently stemmed, at least in part, from a March 28 shooting near the Eupora High School band hall. Authorities said a person on a dirt bike fired multiple shots from a handgun while on West Clark Street; no one was hit. Cole Breazeale, 19, was subsequently charged with drive-by shooting in the incident.
